- Paperbacks
- Hardcover books
- CDs
- DVDs
- Children’s materials
Do Not Donate
Discard moldy, smelly or water damaged items.
- Magazines
- Videotapes
- Textbooks
- Computer books more than 5 years old
- Toys or games
- Encyclopedias
- Directories
- Business or Science books more than 10 years old
- Homemade copies
- Foreign language materials
If your materials are not accepted….
Places where you can dispose of unwanted materials include donation centers, thrift stores, secondhand book dealers, or recyclers. Recology Waste Management customers can bring up to 15 hardback books per visit, and they will recycle them.
If damaged books need to be disposed of, put paperbacks in your recycling bin as long as the cover does not contain plastic. For hardcovers, tear the pages for recycling.
Discard the covers and backs.
